Copper Flat Lock Roofing Panels

Snap-on batten lock roofing panels, also known as U-lock standing seam roofing panels, are an excellent technology dedicated to residential applications. Through the use of a batten cap, the seams are perfectly protected from water ingress, and the clip system is allows for quick installation of the panels.

Description

16 oz / 20 oz Copper Flat Lock Roofing Panels

16 oz / 20 oz copper flat lock roofing panels are an aesthetically pleasing solution dedicated to installation on steep roofs. Due to their flat shape, these mechanical seams are not intended for use in areas set for the occurrence of very heavy rain and snowfall. It is a premium solution that allows for above-average attractive roofs due to the lack of protrusions from the entire slope.

Although installing mechanical lock panels requires a bit more skill and knowledge than snap lock, such connections are much more durable. An additional advantage of flat lock is the possibility of using an adhesive, which will improve the tightness of the entire roof and ensure long and trouble-free operation. Lifespan of 100 years in case of copper roofs is completely achievable.

0.022″ / 0.027″ Copper Flat Lock Roofing Panels – Endurance, Effectiveness, Affordability

As a sheet metal vendor, we have spent over 14 years analyzing various metal roofing technologies for their performance, cost effectiveness, durability and also failure rate. So far, flat lock panels have performed more than adequately, as long as those responsible for installing them have adjusted the curvature of the roof (no less than 3/12, optimally more than 4/12) and have not made a mistake at the joint sealing stage.

With enough force, you are able to produce a connection that will resist the action of even very strong winds. The aerodynamic surface, which cannot be achieved with standing seam snap lock roofing panels, reduces the risk of roof rupture in the event of a tornado. This is not insignificant, as flying steel or copper sheets can pose a real threat to the lives of those nearby.

At the same time, the undoubted advantage of flat lock copper roofing panels is their ease of production, which contributes to the attractive purchase price. This is a phenomenal solution for installing roofs on large buildings that exceed 10,000 sqft, although of course mechanical lock also works well for residential applications. It’s versatility, simplicity and great personalization possibilities are the key to your success.

How to Copper Flat Lock Roofing Panels?

Installation of 16 oz / 20 oz copper flat lock roofing panels is recommended only for steep roofs with a curvature of more than 3/12, and preferably 4/12. Due to the lack of soldering, the joints are not perfectly sealed and the slow drainage of water could lead to serious leaks throughout the roof.

Mechanical seam roofing panels should also be installed on a sufficiently strong sheathing, which will provide the entire structure with sufficient rigidity and stability. As a manufacturer, we recommend using plywood with a thickness of no less than 5/8”.

We also recommend that mechanical lock flat seam roofing panels be placed on synthetic underlayment from recommended manufacturers like Roofnado, Owens Corning, DuPont as well as GAF. A thick layer of material insulating the roof structure reduces the risk of mold and extends the service life, which of course generates savings.

Flat lock copper roofing panels, like any sheet metal roofing material, are sometimes noisy. However, noise emissions will be much lower if you use a modern synthetic underlayment with increased thickness, which better absorbs vibrations. An additional advantage of such a solution is better thermal insulation, so lower bills for heating and air conditioning of the house.

All of our roofing panels are made from the highest quality materials, which guarantees trouble-free operation for many years. Copper, unlike steel and aluminum, is completely resistant to corrosion – admittedly, it gets covered with a blue-green oxidation layer, but this does not affect its strength. This makes copper snap lock roofing panels incredibly even durable, and under optimal conditions, their service life can last up to 200 years. No other material, not even natural slate or premium-grade terracotta tiles, offers such exalted performance.
