Engineers employed by Northshore Sheet Metals spent many hours developing the ideal z-closure flashing design. As it turns out, designing the ideal profile of curves and angles is not that simple – the standard 90° does not guarantee optimal water runoff, as water droplets tend to collect in corners and crevices, which over time, can lead to leaks, completely defeating the purpose of installing Kynar-coated steel screed angles.
Our products are also distinguished by excellent design. When it comes to bent plates, aesthetics are very important because much of the flashing is exposed. For this reason, a perfectly smooth and even resin-based kynar 500 coating is a particularly desirable feature that improves the overall curb appeal of the building and enhances the aesthetic value of the roof. In many cases, z-closure flashings are installed on custom metal roofs, which requires a perfect color match. With the palette of 28 base shades we offer, however, this will not be a problem.
Screed angle flashings manufactured by Northshore Sheet Metals also offer the highest possible level of protection for all connections against the elements, such as rain, snow, ice, hail and high winds. The 0.025” thick steel sheet itself provides a sturdy barrier against external threats, and with the Kynar 500 coating, the level of security is even higher. Our flashings impress with their corrosion resistance – a thick layer of resin in some cases allows for a 50 years of lifespan!

It’s a special blend of resins combined with dyes that won’t fade despite the passage of time, plus it won’t show dirt. Kynar500 PVDF is probably the best paint coating, which works even on those steel parts that are exposed to direct sunlight, water and salt.
The thickness of the sheet metal we use is also not insignificant. Engineers employed by North Shore Sheet Metals have spent hundreds of hours selecting the ideal stainless steel sheet thickness that offers the perfect compromise between weight, bending resistance, brittleness and price. As a result, by choosing step tins made from 0.025” (24 Ga) Steel you are assured that your customer will enjoy many years of trouble-free use of their roof, no matter where they live.
